The reading of an ancient Mayan calendar which allegedly predicted the end of the world on December 21, 2012, is wrong, social media theorists claim.
The theory has recently circulated on the Twittersphere and insists the true end of the world is on June 21, 2020.
Scientist Paolo Tagalogun outlined his re-fashioning of the nearly decade-old conspiracy in a thread of tweets from his account on the site.
He suggested the world's reliance on the Julian calendar when the Mayan calendar existed means the prediction falls eight years later than previously presumed.
